Here’s the thing

Not going to lie, life has been pretty easy since I’ve been home. I have no obligations, just eat, sleep, drink and hang out with friends. Life is pretty wonderful right now.

I mean I guess I do have one obligation, working. I have been working about 15 hours a week which is a lot more then I ever expected my boss to give me after being away at school. My fellow coworkers, who have become family, have welcomed me back with open arms. Its crazy how much they care about my success in school and life in general. They are no doubt family.

When I told my friends I’d decided I wasn’t going to Seattle, I couldn’t believe their disbelief and excitement. They were mostly happy that they wouldn’t be losing me for 10 weeks but they also expressed deep concern to why I decided not to go. More than anything I think that shows the kind of friends I have, supportive and caring. Although none of them wanted me to go to Seattle, they knew it would have been good for my career and were ready to give me the support I needed, regardless of their own feelings torwards it. Their love showed in their desire for me to be happy.

So since everyone is officially home, we have been gathering around bonfires, hitting the beach and ruining our livers. We have had some slight cooler mishaps but for the most part life’s been peachy. On the beach Sunday I decided I couldn’t have been any happier, I was surrounded by all the people I love.

Here’s the thing, I never imagined my summer to be like this, I dreamed of flying across the country and embarking on new adventures and spending my time with a crowd of new people. But today, I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else besides right here at home with my amazing friends so I’ll drink to that.

Baseball, to me, is still the national pastime because it is a summer game.  I feel that almost all Americans are summer people, that summer is what they think of when they think of their childhood.  I think it stirs up an incredible emotion within people
